Kirkuk police officers detained over alleged bribery and smuggling facilitation
The Interior Ministry detained the police director responsible for security and personnel affairs along with four other officers. Investigators alleged that checkpoint bribes were accepted to allow smuggled goods to move between the Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk. The case remained under investigation, and possible charges under Iraq’s anti-bribery provisions had not yet been finally determined.
